What is the route of the Cursa de Montgat 2026

The Montgat Race course has a distance of 10 km officially measured and takes place on an urban circuit by the sea. Both the start and finish lines are located at Plaça de la Vila, in front of Montgat Town Hall. The course consists of two laps of a 5 km circuit, mostly on asphalt, offering a fast route although it includes several climbs around the Turó de Montgat.

After the start, runners face a wide and flat opening section that allows them to find their position within the pack. Shortly afterwards, the first climb towards the Turó de Montgat begins, a ramp of around 250 metres that appears very early in the race. From there, the course continues with a sustained climb of about 1.4 km, including a few short ramps that require careful pace management.

Once the highest point of the course is reached, the route descends towards the Camí Ral, where runners run parallel to the railway tracks and the Mediterranean coastline. This section combines a fast downhill with a mostly flat stretch that allows runners to regain rhythm while enjoying sea views before returning along the same axis of the course.

Around kilometre 2, runners begin a second gradual climb of about 700 metres, slightly gentler but still steady, leading back towards the Town Hall area. After this effort, a quick downhill section allows runners to recover speed before entering the second half of the circuit.

In the final part of each lap, the course heads towards the Montgat Sud area, where runners complete a nearly flat out-and-back section. At the far end of the circuit there is a 180º turnaround around kilometre 4.1, marking the return towards the finish line or the start of the second lap.

In the 10 km race, this circuit is completed twice. The main refreshment station is located at kilometre 5, right at the beginning of the second lap, while additional refreshments are provided at the finish line. The course is generally fast and suitable for chasing a personal best, although coastal winds and the climbs of the Turó de Montgat may influence race pace.
